5 things to consider when booking your wedding band

The details of booking a wedding band are so important to get right; your future wedding-day self will thank you for it! Here’s our list of 5 things to think about when you are booking your wedding band for the big day.

1.Word of mouth

A great review goes a long way! We have so many clients approach us off the back of recommendations from their friends and relatives. So ask around, maybe put a post up on your Instagram or Twitter asking people to share the band they hired for their own wedding, and see what comes up for you.

2. Go to a Gig

This is a tricky one, especially at the moment when there are no gigs (because: COVID). In a normal year, we actually only perform a handful of public shows - as we are (you guessed it) a function band catering for your wedding or private event. This is when point 1 comes back into play, so do your research, ask your friends and of course if you can get to a live show  - DO IT! You don’t need an excuse for a night out do you?!

3.Speak to your venue

We can’t stress this enough! Have you hired an 8 piece wedding band, but the smallest function suite? Have you booked a loud amplified rocking band only to find out that there is a sound limit? Do the band have anywhere to change and wait, or are you happy for them to hang with the party? What about adequate power for the equipment and lights? Check these details through with the venue, before you start signing contracts and paying deposits to the band. Which leads us onto the next point…

4.Sort your Admin out

Make sure you have a contract, and read the Ts & Cs. What happens if a band member falls ill, are they replaceable? Going through these rather boring but essential factors will give you peace of mind and security.

5.Check through the set list

Make sure that you are booking the right genre wedding band for you, so that you have the BEST time possible, but be careful of dictating a whole setlist front to back. Have a look through the song lists on offer, and remember It’s ok to insert some of your favorites and take out a song or two you absolutely hate - it’s a collaborative process and we are happy to help - but always trust that we know what works too!
